Did You Know?
by
Jeff Evans
- One ladybug
eats 50-100 aphids per day
- One ladybug
can produce 1000 offspring in its lifetime (1- 2 months)
- The second
generation - 1000 ladybugs x 1000 offspring = 1,000,000 ladybugs
- 1,000,000
ladybugs x 50 aphids ea. = 50,000,000 aphids….Consumed…. daily!!!
Why are we
spraying poisons to kill aphids when they also kill ladybugs?
Have you
ever wished you knew someone with loads of landscape experience
and plant knowledge who could come by and coach you on what you're
trying to accomplish in your yard? Someone to offer a little advice
on what might look best in this corner or advise you on what you
did wrong over here where everything died? Have you almost given
up on dealing with the clay that is like concrete when it's dry
and like mud when it's wet? How about those reoccurring bug problems
that won't go away? Is the whitefly, the mealybug or the caterpillar
dining on your once spotless foliag? How about someone who, in
an hour or two, can answer most of the plant questions you've
been scratching your head over for ages. Have you been looking
for someone who can give you the confidence to begin that landscape
project you've been putting off for so long? Maybe you've been
looking for somebody trustworthy and knowledgeable to inspect
your property on a monthly basis or whenever you leave town. Well,
now there is someone here who can do just that.
His name
is Jeff Evans. He lives in San Clemente and has been working with
plants professionally for over 33 years. With that much experience
under his belt there probably is very little he can't help you
with. He owned and operated his own nursery and landscape business
in Florida for 30 years. Many of Jeff's most proud accomplishments
were lavish estates on Palm Beach Island that he both landscaped
and maintained. In San Clemente he has served as a plant specialist
for three years in a local nursery.
Jeff's specialty
within the world of plants has always been organics, which was
rekindled after moving to California. Unlike the flat sandy terrain
of Florida where everything leaches into the ground, it has been
a real eye opener to him to see how everything that runs off the
yards into the curbs ends up in the ocean. Excess pesticides,
fungicides, nitrates and other chemicals flow directly to our
favorite swimming and surfing spots! This, Jeff says doesn't have
to be. When considering various treatments for your yard look
into an organic treatment first. It's uncomplicated, and it can
actually be fun. The key is to work toward establishing your very
own ecosystem within your landscape. Where do you start? Jeff
has drawn on his knowledge and experience to come up with a plan
everybody can adhere to with their yard maintenance to get great
results and help rescue the environment at the same time.
Some of the
benefits you can expect from following Jeff's program are:
- Control
pests and still keep your yard safe for your family and pets
- Stop chemical
runoff to the ocean
- Amend clay
soil naturally and easily without tilling
- Grow deeper
roots so you can water less
- Improve
drainage - also saving on runoff
- Maximize
your plants nutrient and water absorption by increasing soil
microbes
- Take the
risk out of fertilizing. No burning or worrying about imbalances
- Watch your
yard transform into its own ecosystem
If you would
like to consider periodic inspections, a one-time Q&A session,
a complete soil analysis or the planning of your own ecosystem,
call Jeff for an appointment at 949-370-9443 or email him at jeff@jehc.biz.
Jeff will
be producing an informative newsletter on gardening and the latest
news on what makes plants tick. If you would like to receive a
free subscription, just call or email him with your name and address.
P.S. Ladybugs
also dine on mealybugs, scales, spidermite, whitefly and various
other garden vermin.
