Seasons Landscape
A Passion for Custom Residential
by
Jeff Evans
Seasons Landscaping
is more than just a landscaping company. It's a design build solution
- landscape architects and construction management.
The 10-year-old
Orange County company was started by Scott Hutcheon, a graduate
with a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from Cal Poly
San Luis Obispo, one of the best schools in the nation for architecture.
There are
a lot of good landscape architects. There are a lot of good construction
companies. There are a lot of people with good style that may
or may not be in the industry. It is the blending of all these
things into one common vision that has separated Seasons from
the rest.
Seasons is
dedicated to designing unique environments with the latest materials
and technology. They are always pushing on every aspect of every
project to make it just that much better or different than the
last one. Many times their clients have pushed them to different
levels, too. Seasons clients are detail oriented and know what
they like and don't like, which always creates unique ideas.
Seasons has
a horticulturalist they work with very closely on every project
through the design phase (plant walks at the nursery) as well
as all the planting installations. They helped choose the planting
pallet for the Covenant Hills custom home sites planting pallet
guidelines.
Their knowledge
of these guidelines is a critical part of what they do. These
guidelines and the process also develops another level of trust
with their clients. They feel comfortable knowing that they are
proficient in everything they do and will be approved in a timely
and efficient manner.
The key to
a great project is having the design mentality blended with construction
methodology throughout the project. "People often forget that
the industry we are in is a service-oriented industry. We have
a huge passion for what we do and love to see our clients happy.
How we win a lot of projects is by winning the trust of our clients
and having them see the service during the design phase. The whole
process can be personal or an emotional experience for our clients,"
said Hutcheon.
"Discussing
their personal living space and understanding their lives and
their families and how they live in their home opens them up.
Going through this process naturally develops relationships. We
are partners in this personal and sometimes emotional experience
from beginning to end. We believe in research and development,
always looking for new ideas and materials and how they relate
to other older ideas and techniques," Hutcheon explains.
The majority
of Seasons work is custom residential, with the remainder focusing
on large commercial or residential housing projects.
Their passion
is custom residential, and Seasons has designed and built many
residential projects in Orange, San Diego and Los Angeles Counties.
Seasons has
designed and passed through design review committees about 35
custom homesites in Shady Canyon, Crystal Cove, Covenant Hills
and Dana Point.
Notable projects
have included:
- Project Playhouse
- Philharmonic House of Design
- Covenant Hills
- Designer of the landscape plans through the Design Review Committee
- Sunset Idea House
- Covenant Hills
- Materials selector and helped build the landscaping.
