Sepulveda Building Material
Home Improvement Specialists

Some of Southern California's most beautiful masonry structures were constructed with products from Sepulveda Building Materials in Laguna Niguel.

For nearly five decades, Sepulveda has provided builders, residents, and home improvement specialists with masonry supplies, natural stone, blocks, bricks, barbeques-building materials, and even firewood throughout Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties.

You name it, if it's a South Coast construction project of stone, blocks, bricks, cement, or concrete, there's a very good chance Sepulveda has supplied the materials.

Sepulveda is a family-operated business founded by Cornelius "Bud" Connors in 1960. Since that time, Sepulveda Building Materials has maintained a commitment to seek new ways to provide innovative, quality masonry and landscape products at competitive prices to achieve unique and distinctive décor for all types of projects. Sepulveda is always upgrading and maintaining its fleet of vehicles to improve delivery service.

"Bud's" son, John Connors, took over the company in 1970. Today, the firm's headquarters is in Laguna Niguel, with four other retail outlets which service a great part of Southern California.

Sepulveda has a strong Internet presence (www.sepulveda.com), and more than a hundred dedicated employees. The company is prospering with its mission to fill customers' needs for masonry, tile, and related products with exceptional service and competitive prices.

"We are the place to come to if you're looking for natural stone, any sort of tile or landscaping products," says Rick Costa, Sepulveda's sales manager. "We service building contractors, masons, and home do-it-yourselfers."

Costa said one of the hot products today for home improvement is veneer natural stone.

"Natural stone weighs 50 pounds per square foot, so if you put it on the side of a building or house, that's a lot of weight to hold up," Costa explained. "Thin veneer natural stone is sliced to the point where it only weighs 15 pounds per square foot, making it far more desirable in construction and home improvement, and you still have the same natural stone beauty."

Sepulveda Building Materials is a one-stop center for just about everything needed to construct that backyard barbecue, new driveway, patio, or any concrete finishing, including tools, mixers, and more.

But Sepulveda isn't just a "fair-weather" construction supply house. "Back when Mr. Connors first started the business, he noticed there was little or no business during the rainy season because masons couldn't be on the job, so he came up with something that could be sold when things were slow: firewood," Costa said.

Since 1960, Sepulveda Building Materials has built up a reputation among homeowners, businesses, and especially restaurants as "the place" to go for firewood.

"We don't just supply homeowners, we deliver to a great many restaurants throughout the southland," Costa said. "We have everything from a full cord of wood right down to a small bundle. Our wood is clean, stacked or bundled neatly. All types of wood, soft, hard, mixed, you name it."

Costa said during the holiday season a lot of the company's customers give firewood as gifts.

"I mean, what do you give someone who has everything?" he said, laughing. "Every Christmas, we have one customer who has us deliver a half-cord of firewood to a friend of his, complete with a red ribbon."

He said red ribbons go with every delivery of gift firewood during the holiday season, if requested.

"When you get wood delivered from us, it's all wrapped and stacked," Costa assured. "We offer a mixture of hard and soft woods, redwood, oaks, whatever you'd like and we set the pallet down right where you want it."

Costa says Sepulveda surprisingly has captured a huge market share of the higher BTU-rated firewood.

"We cater to restaurants, offer restaurant-split, which are specific-burning woods cut to certain sizes to fit restaurant ovens," he explained.

As for masonry supplies and projects, some of the more impressive public structures along the South Coast area Sepulveda Building Materials has supplied include Laguna Niguel's Flower Bed Fountain, Keystone Fountain, and the Laguna Hills Community Center. Sepulveda Building Materials also supplied the masonry ingredients for the TSgt. Ted Tanouye Memorial at Torrance High School.

Sepulveda Building Materials maintains a state-of-the art computer system to coordinate ordering, dispatching and billing, making it one of Southern California's top supply centers using the e-commerce market place.
